Lorazepam is an anxiolitic of therapeutical subgroup “Psycholeptics” that belongs to group N “Nervous System”.

Therapeutic indication

Lorazepam is a high-potency, intermediate-duration, benzodiazepine medicine, often used to treat anxiety disorders. Lorazepam has all six intrinsic benzodiazepine effects: anxiety, anterograde amnesia, sedation/hypnosis, anticonvulsion, antiemesis and muscle relaxation. Lorazepam is used for the short-term treatment of anxiety, insomnia, acute seizures including status epilepticus, and sedation of hospitalized patients, as well as sedation of aggressive patients.
